Since I'm waiting for the stupid file PuKuang is sending me to finish with the transfer, I'm here.
Ok. Went for ZhangLS's workshop on QinQiang playing on thurs and fri @ PA. Was rather useful and i actually picked up quite a lot of things that i normally would not have. About how to play it with feelings, and how to understand it properly. He got a few people up to play and he comment. Saw a couple of commendable kids. Of cos, Shaun, no doubt, has the skills and the intelligence. Im wondering, why is it that some people are so good with sightreading and speed while others struggles. What can help to train good sightreading skills? I always thought that playing more pieces on your own can do the trick, but it isnt the case for me. I've been trying almost every piece in the exam book, but i couldn't get it right. I cant train my sightreading speed, i cant train my running notes. Junhong is so far the fastest at sightreading that i've seen. The NTU concerts, he can play fast running notes at 180 at a glance. While i can only sit beside him, laughing at my own stupidity. What Zhang said is true, he has the intelligence, but he lack something. He lack the proper training. If only he took on private lessons with a teacher back then. He could have been one of the top players now. Wasted.
Nvm, anyways, Zhang drove me, Vanessa and MingHan back after the workshops. He even treated us to dumplings on thurs. haha. The workshop showed me a different Zhang. A Zhang that i've yet to realise after 7yrs with him.. I feel so guilty, i dont even know my teacher well.
Went echomusic with Xueqi on saturday. Simon said he would go through some composing and rearrangement stuffs with us. I was late, so took the NEL to little india and changed to a cab to echo. I thought it would be 'cheapcheap' buddens i forgot about the extra charge. I ended up paying $5+ for a $3+ trip. wtf.
Owells, learnt quite a lot of stuffs from simon too. And i seriously think he put on weight. LOL. Yeah, learnt about the different families of chords and how to go about arranging songs. Im actually very grateful that my parents sent me to music classes when i was younger. Though i'm not exceptionally good, at least i have a little bit of background knowledge, and it puts me at an advantage. But hey, you're never too old to learn, so start learning now! Anyways, chatted with Simon and realised that he was a officer during ns too! OMG~ hmm.. And wow, Simon got his licence already! Haha, he offered to drop me and Xueqi off at Lavander MRT on his way to dinner with Simin and some guitar instructor. When Xueqi and i went down the stairs to wait for him, i guessed his car correctly! OMG. haha. The newest car with the triangle. =P
The Quartet. It all started with Simon contacting Xiangle and Xiangle getting us. Im really glad that he approached me. Echomusic was quite a learning platform. We started off with simple minds, Xiangle, Xueqi, Yunyi and I. Did gigs for money, came together as a quartet for fun. Until me and yy had to leave cos of studies and zhanyi and jonathan took over. Although i had left the quartet, but it never left my mind. I keep thinking about how the quartet is going on and stuffs. I longed to go back. But i had to take a break from CO. Zhanyi was then replaced by Zhiwen, which i recently came to know. And now, after the discussion between Simon and Xueqi, the Quartet will now become a Quintet. Xiangle(who will be temp replaced by minghui cos he's in OCS), Xueqi, ZhiWen, MinHui(replace jonathan) and me. I hope everything will turn out fine. I dont want any more retrains from my parents. I never went back to SYCO, it's torturous enough, please don't take the quintet away from me too.
